ACTIVITIES

AWIE participates in events and activities relevant to the education of women and the enhancement of their skills in the promotion of their rights to equitable distribution of opportunities. These activities include but are not limited to;

1. A SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME TO EDUCATE WOMEN AT ALL LEVELS AND AREAS
OF THE ENERGY SECTOR

The organisation will focus on post-first-degree courses which lead to the energy sector. AWIE will partner with other organisations to provide motivated women with the necessary financial support to pursue the courses which would lead them to acquire the right qualification to enable them to take advantage of the apparent inequality within the sector.

2. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATES

AWIE’s policies include scholarship schemes and also tapping into employment opportunities at our partner organisations. Our focus is to ensure our beneficiaries utilise their knowledge and skills to the development of Africa. This opportunity also extends to other women with the requisite academic qualifications in the energy sector.

3. FEMALE MENTORSHIP AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS

AWIE will also ensure that through our mentorship programs, participants are provided with the necessary guidance and support from celebrated women in the energy sector. Upon completion of their various programs, scholars automatically become mentors. This cycle will ensure a strong bond between graduates and new entrants to the program.

4. IN-HOUSE TRAINING PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS

AWIE engages in training programs for female staff within energy companies. The program will educate the staff on emerging trends, and processes in the energy sector. It will also bring on board expert minds from various energy companies to share ideas and techniques. The training would also expose the female workers to knowledge from other fields of studies (like legal, accounting and health fields) relevant to their work in the energy sector.

5. OUTREACH PROGRAMS FOR INSTITUTIONS

This program is open to persons in secondary and tertiary institutions. The organisation will educate these individuals through social media, print, other media and personal visits to various educational institutions to encourage up and coming young women who are interested in carving a career path in the energy sector.

6. CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS

The organisation arranges periodic seminars on pertinent issues affecting the energy sector. Our aim is to assemble policies from female experts addressing issues in the energy sector. We intend to publish journals on the assembled papers from the conferences.
